Nelson Shines at 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior all-arounder Kameron Nelson competed at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Tampa, Fla. this weekend, finishing 15th overall among those who competed in the all-around over the two days.

“I’m very proud of Kameron,” Head Coach Rustam Sharipov said. “He had a very impressive representation for us at the USA Championships.”

  • Nelson finished 20th in the all-around competition on Thursday evening, totaling 77.729. His best event of the session was vault, on which he had the eighth-highest score (14.550) among the 36 athletes who competed on vault. Nelson also earned a 13.779 on floor (14th overall) and a 13.050 on rings (19th overall). He rounded out his showing with a 12.900 on parallel bars, 12.300 on high bar and 11.150 on pommel horse.
  • On Saturday, Nelson scored a 79.479 in the all-around by either matching or improving his score in every event compared to Thursday. He earned another 14.550 on vault, which paired with Thursday’s score was the seventh highest in the competition. Nelson’s 14.279 on floor moved him up to the ninth best two-score total of the meet. He also notched a 13.250 on parallel bars, 13.100 on rings, 12.350 on high bar and 11.950 on pommel horse.
