Ohio State men’s hockey senior goalie Tommy Nappier and freshman forward Travis Treloar have been named Big Ten Second and Third Star of the Week, respectively, the B1G announced Tuesday. The duo led the Buckeyes in a split with Michigan State over the weekend.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Nappier was first in the NCAA with 84 saves last week (19 more than second place), with 42 stops in each game. The 42 saves were two shy of his career high, set last October. He had a .944 save percentage on the weekend and allowed just two even strength goals. Included in his saves were 14 in the third period of game one, allowing the Buckeyes to tie the game late, and 20 in the third period of game two to preserve the Buckeye victory.
Nappier has a 2.51 goals-against average and .933 save percentage through four games this season. In his career, he has a 1.96 goals-against average and .934 save percentage in 62 games played, with 59 starts. He is now a nine-time Big Ten Star of the Week, tying Christian Frey (2014-17) and Tanner Laczynski (2017-20) for the most as a Buckeye.

Treloar, from Fredrikstad, Norway, had a team-best three points against the Spartans, ranking second in points among B1G skaters. His first career goal was scored with 27 seconds left in regulation in game one, an extra attacker score that forced overtime. Sunday, he had a team-best two assists, both on the power play. He set up Quinn Preston’s goal that opened the scoring and had the primary assist on a Grant Gabriele tally that stood as the gamewinner. The points were the first of his Buckeye career.
