COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey head coach Nadine Muzerall is the 2022-23 WCHA Co-Coach of the Year, the conference announced Thursday. Muzerall shared the honor with St. Cloud State’s Brian Idalski.
Muzerall’s Buckeyes rank first in the country on the power play (.344) and faceoff win percentage (.576) and top-five in assists (251), goals (158), points (409), scoring margin (2.61), scoring offense (4.39) and team win percentage (.861). She has guided her team to hold the top position in the national rankings in all but two weeks of the 2022-23 season.
While last season was historic for the Buckeyes, Muzerall continued to take the program to new heights this year as Ohio State won its first regular season conference title in program history. Earning a final total of 70 conference points with a win over Wisconsin in the final regular season game of the season, Ohio State hoisted the Julianne Bye Cup for the first time in the 24-year history of the program.
Ohio State has won 30 games this season, marking the second consecutive season that the team has earned 30 or more wins. Prior to Muzerall’s arrival in 2016, the Buckeyes had just one 20-win season. Ohio State has now won 20 or more games in five of seven seasons with Muzerall at the helm.
Muzerall has earned the conference coach of the year title four times in her seven seasons at Ohio State. This year is the second consecutive season she has earned the award.
