Moore, Snyder Win Gold, McKenna Silver at Zagreb Open

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three former Buckeyes wrestled in the finals at the 2023 Zagreb Open in Croatia Thursday with two coming away with gold medals.

The Zagreb Open is the first step to the 2023 World Championships. Participants earn points that go toward seeding.

Kollin Moore (92 kg) defeated Miriani Maisuradze of Georgia by VPO1 (4-3) to claim gold for Team USA.

Note: Moore lettered at Ohio State in 2017-20, earning All-America honors four times as a Buckeye. He was a three-time Big Ten Champion at 197. He finished second in the 2019 NCAA Championships, fourth in 2018 and third in 2017. The 202 championship was canceled (COVID).

Kyle Snyder then claimed gold at 97kg over Amirali Hamid Azarpira of Iran by VPO (3-0).

Note: Snyder lettered at Ohio State in 2015-19. He was a three time NCAA champion at heavyweight (2016-18), a four-time All-American (2015-18), a three-time Big Ten champion (2015-18) and won Olympic gold in 2016 and silver in 2020.

Joey McKenna (65 kg) fell in the championship bout (3-1) to Tulga Tumur-Ochir of Mongolian.
