Men’s Lacrosse soundly defeats Wooster 19-5 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State scored a season high 19 goals in defeating in-state rival Wooster 19-5 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex. It took the Buckeyes more than five minutes to get on the board, but after Aaron Adams scored the game’s first goal, the Buckeyes never looked back. Ohio State would go on to score four more goals to take a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.
Adams and Steve Gloeckner each scored two first half goals to take a 12-0 lead in to the locker room at the half. Goalie Mike Abeles got his second straight start and stopped six shots while allowing no goals in his 30 minutes of action.
Gloeckner lead the offensive charge scoring three goals and an assist. Jim Lafferty added two goals and two assists, while Kevin Johnson assisted on three goals. Mickey O’Connor netted a goal and two assists.
Ohio State also scooped up a season high 69 ground balls and 63 shots to Wooster’s 19 ground balls and 23 shots. Tim Whiting lead the Scots with three goals in the losing effort. The Buckeyes improve to 2-7 on the year.
