Men’s Golf Ends Season with Banquet – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Jim Brown, Ohio State head men’s golf coach, handed out several team awards at the annual postseason banquet May 12 at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
Colin Biles, a junior from Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, took away the most hardware. The three-year letterwinner earned honors as captain, for the team’s Low Stroke Average (73.6), as winner of the Tom Weiskopf Fall Match Play event and for earning the Scarlet and Gray Club Top Buckeye Award. The Scarlet and Gray award is voted on by the members of The OSU Golf Club.
Michael Haverfield (So., Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) was recognized as the Jack Nicklaus Low Fall Qualifier. The Fairway Club Award, presented to the student-athlete who best represents Ohio State golf, was given to Nate Strong (Jr., Massillion, Ohio/Jackson). The Robert Kepler Award, given annually for spirit, scholarship and ability, was given to Peter Riddell (Sr., Pointe-Claire, Canada) and the Top Freshman Award went to Dan Rush (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius).
Biles, a second team All-Big Ten honoree, led the Buckeyes in rounds played (37) and Top 20 individual finishes (7). Rush competed in 31 rounds this season, third most on the team and the most of any freshman.
