COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s hockey senior forward Mathieu Beaudoin has been named the team’s CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-consecutive season, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced Tuesday.
Each of the 12 conference schools selected one student-athlete for the honor. The CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be chosen from the group and honored at the 2007 CCHA Awards Banquet March 16 at Fox Theater in Detroit.
The faculty representative at each CCHA school, in consultation with the head coach, selected the institution’s scholar-athlete honoree. Nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 through the fall term of the selection year to receive the award. The league’s overall honoree will be chosen by a vote of the conference’s faculty representatives.
Sherbrooke, Quebec, native Beaudoin will graduate with a business finance degree at the end of Winter Quarter. He is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten at-large selection.
This season, Beaudoin led the Buckeyes with 14 goals and was tied for fourth with 25 points. He had a team-best three game-winning goals and added three shorthanded goals and three power-play tallies. Beaudoin ended his Buckeye career with 89 points, including 52 goals and 37 assists, in 149 games. He had 11 game-winning tallies and 11 power-play goals for the Scarlet and Gray.
