Jason Knox Taken With Fifth Overall Selection in NLL Draft

COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State’s pipeline to the National Lacrosse League continued on Saturday afternoon, as Jason Knox heard his name called during the 2022 Draft. Knox was taken with the fifth pick overall in the first round by the Panthers City Lacrosse Club.

NLL Draft History
With Knox’s selection, Ohio State has now produced 16 picks in its history. Since 2007, 12 of those choices have been first-round pick since 2007, the most of any program in the country coming into the draft.

Over the last five years, Ohio State has produced 10 NLL Draft picks, including seven first-rounders.

A native of Huntsville, Ontario, Knox transferred to Ohio State and joined the program in the summer of 2021 after proving to be a high-scoring attackman at Hobart from 2019-21. At Ohio State, his impact was immediate. He started 13 of the 15 games that he played in last spring and finished with 24 goals – fourth most on the team – and 27 total points.

Knox had at least one goal in each of the first eight games. In a 20-8 win over No. 4 North Carolina, he scored a season-high four times and overall netted 17 goals in the first eight contests.

Heading into the 2023 season, Knox’s career totals include 86 goals, 14 assists and 100 points in 41 games played.

This year’s draft was held at The Carlu in downtown Toronto. The first round was broadcast live on TSN.ca and the TSN app in Canada and ESPN+ in the United States.
