COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference on Thursday announced the first half of its 2021 men’s lacrosse schedule. The Buckeyes will open their 2021 season on Saturday, Feb. 20 when they travel to Baltimore, Md. to face Johns Hopkins.
“We couldn’t be more grateful to have the opportunity to compete and have a 2021 season,” said head coach Nick Myers. “We’re so appreciative to Gene Smith, Janine Oman and the Big Ten Conference for working incredibly hard to make this happen. Our staff and men will continue to prepare and will be ready to go on February 20th.”
Following its game at Johns Hopkins, Ohio State will open the home portion of its schedule on Feb. 27 when it welcomes Rutgers to Columbus. Ohio State then travels to Penn State on March 6 before back to back home games on March 13 and March 20 against Michigan and Maryland, respectively.
The second half of the Big Ten’s men’s lacrosse schedule is expected to be released in early March. Game times and TV designations are still to be determined.
The 2021 Big Ten Tournament will include all six conference teams, with the top-2 teams in the standings at the end of the regular season receiving a first round bye. The quarterfinal rounds will be hosted at the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Saturday, May 1. The semifinals (May 6) and final (May 8) will be hosted at Penn State.
Ohio State is ranked No. 10 in the USILA preseason poll that was released yesterday. A total of five Big Ten programs appear in the poll – No. 2 Maryland, No. 6 Penn State, No. 10 Ohio State, No. 18 Rutgers and No. 20 Johns Hopkins.
