COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Emma Maltais is this week’s WCHA Forward of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon.
Maltais, from Burlington, Ontario, had a hand in five of Ohio State’s seven goals in a split against No. 2 Minnesota last weekend. In Friday’s game, she was part of all four Buckeye goals that were scored, assisting on three of them while scoring one late in the second period. On Saturday, she had an empty net goal with 12 seconds remaining in the third period to secure a 3-1 win.
During Friday’s game, Maltais also reached a significant career milestone when she recorded her 100th career assist. She is just the second player in program history with 100 career assists (Laura McIntosh, who played from 2009-12 and had 123 assists, is the other).
Maltais currently leads the Buckeyes (9-5) with eight assists and is one of five players who has recorded double figure points (10).
Ohio State, ranked No. 4 in this week’s USCHO poll, is off this weekend before returning to action Feb. 12-13 with a series at No. 2 Minnesota.
