COLUMBUS, Ohio—Chris Holtmann, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced the signing of Ibrahima Diallo, a 7-foot center from Prolific Prep (California), to the 2019 Ohio State men’s basketball recruiting class.
Diallo, a native of Senegal, signed his NCAA Letter of Intent to play for the Buckeyes this week.
“Ibrahima is a terrific young man and young big with upside and potential,” Holtmann said. “He has been coached well and has played against quality competition. His measurables speak for themselves but we were also really struck by his maturity in the recruiting process. As with most freshmen, especially bigs, we understand there will be a process to his development. Having said that, we are really excited about what his future holds.”
In 10 games as a senior at Prolific Prep, Diallo averaged 11 points, 11 rebounds and nearly four blocks a game.
Diallo joins Alonzo Gaffney (6-9, F), E.J. Liddell (6-6, F) and D.J. Carton (6-1, G) in Ohio State’s 2019 recruiting class. The class as a whole is ranked among the Top 10 classes nationally and as the No. 1 class in the Big Ten.
