DALLAS, Texas – Playing on a tough course against and elite field, Ohio State posted an opening round 298 and are very much in the mix after day one of the Maridoe Invitational. The Buckeyes are in seventh place in the 15-team field at 10-over par.
Jackson Chandler and Maxwell Moldovan led the way individually with even-par rounds of 72. Chandler had two birdies and two bogeys in his round while Moldovan had three birdies and three bogeys. They are tied for eighth headed into Tuesday’s second round.
JonErik Alford and Patrick Schmucking each opened with rounds of 5-over 77. They too had a pair of birdies in their rounds. Freshman Jacob Tarkany rounded out the scoring with an 83.
The scoring average for the day was 76.16. The field features some of the best collegiate players in the country and just 12 players were at par or better on Monday.
The Buckeyes will start the second round at Noon ET and will be paired with TCU and Southern Cal. Golf Channel will have live coverage of both the second and third rounds from 4-7 p.m. ET.
