Buckeyes Recognized with Academic All-Big Ten Accolades

Ohio State Fall 2021 Academic All-Big Ten honorees

COLUMBUS, Ohio — This fall, 140 Ohio State student-athletes received Academic All-Big Ten honors, the Big Ten Conference announced Tuesday. In all, 1,823 student-athletes from across the conference were recognized from fall sports.

The 140 honorees is a best for Ohio State, surpassing the 120 recognized last fall. The sports included are field hockey, football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports, have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The complete list of Ohio State’s fall Academic All-Big Ten selections is available in the PDF at the top of the release. The Buckeye football team had 46 honorees, followed by the men’s soccer team with 22. Women’s cross country was next with 18, while field hockey and women’s soccer both had 15, women’s volleyball had 13 and men’s cross country had 11.

Sophomore marketing major Alex Dediu of the men’s cross country team, along with Samuel Buzzas of the men’s soccer team and Sammy Stone from field hockey, both graduate students in sport management, were recognized for carrying 4.0 grade-point averages.
