COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association named several Buckeyes to its All-Ohio teams Wednesday.
Senior keeper Keagan McLaughlin, redshirt junior defender Owen Sullivan, senior midfielder Xavier Green and junior midfielder Laurence Wootton were named to the 2022 OCSA Academic All-Ohio Team. McLaughlin and Wootton made the 2022 OCSA Division I All-Ohio squad.
All four were recently named to the 2022 Academic All-Big Ten Team as well. There were 17 Buckeyes named to the Big Ten academic list.
Wootton, a junior from Stoke-on-Trent, England, was named the Big Ten Midfielder-of-the-Year while McLaughlin, from nearby Zanesville, Ohio, was named the league’s Goalkeeper-of-the-Year in 2022.
Wootton tied for the team lead with five goals to go with a pair of assists. He led the team in shots on goal with 22. McLaughlin recorded six shutouts in 2022 and led the Big Ten in goals-against-average, save percentage and shutouts.
Green, a native of Kapiti Coast, New Zealand, led the Buckeyes in total points with 15 and tied Wootton with a team-leading five goals. Sullivan, from nearby Dublin, Ohio, had one goal this season.
The group was instrumental in Ohio State’s second-place finish in the Big Ten Conference regular-season standings and second-round appearance in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
