The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team is enjoying the once-in-a-lifetime experience of traveling oversees this month to Portugal. The trip will combine lacrosse and culture, as the team will play two games against the England National Team while also having the chance to immerse itself in Portuguese culture. Below will be day-by-day documentation of the trip, including photos and videos.
Ohio State arrived in Lisbon, Portugal at just after 9:30 a.m. local time (4:30 a.m. ET) and already started enjoying the sights and sounds. The Buckeyes had a light day planned, with some much-needed rest and relaxation prior to a game on Saturday vs. the England National Team.
Ohio State’s second day in Portugal was packed. It started with a game against the England National Team, which also included a postgame opportunity for fellowship. England’s head coach, Doug Shanahan, shared words of wisdom with the players afterwards as well. After that, the team headed to the beach for the first time for surfing lessons.
The third day for Ohio State in Portugal was another busy one, as it started out with the team’s second game against the England National Team in as many days. Afterwards, players and coaches had the opportunity to exchange jerseys with each other. Later in the afternoon, the team ventured to Sintra for a team hike and got to enjoy some breathtaking views.

Ohio State spent Monday doing what has become a cornerstone of its program: growing the game. Buckeye student-athletes and coaches spent time teaching the game to portuguese youth. Later in the day, they bused to Algarve and had a team run/beach workout.
Coaches and players started their Tuesday’s in Lagos with a kayak tour. Below are a selection of photos that show off the picturesque scenery. Later in the afternoon, the team participated in its second community service activity in as many days.
