Buckeyes Finish Fourth in Final LEARFIELD Director’s Cup Standings

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State Department of Athletics concluded the 2021-22 academic year with yet another top-five finish in the LEARFIELD Director’s Cup standings. The Buckeyes finished in fourth place with 1,184.5 points.

Texas won its second consecutive LEARFIELD Director’s Cup on the strength of three national championships in the spring and four overall titles. Stanford was second with 1279.25 total points and Michigan finished third (1,195.25 points). After Ohio State, Florida rounded out the top five (1,130.75 points).

This year marks Ohio State’s highest finish since back-to-back second-place showings in 2016 and 2017. Overall, the Buckeyes have secured a top-10 finish in the final standings in five of the last seven years (2020 excluded due to COVID-19).

Ohio State boasted 11 teams with Top 10 Directors’ Cup national rankings: women’s hockey (No. 1), men’s tennis (No. 3), football (No. 5), fencing (No. 5), men’s gymnastics (No. 5), rowing (No. 8), women’s volleyball (No. 9), women’s basketball (No. 9), women’s swimming and diving (No. 9), men’s swimming and diving (No. 9) and men’s lacrosse (No. 9).
