BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Like so many teams have experienced, Ohio State had a tough shooting night in Assembly Hall, as the Buckeyes fell to Indiana on Thursday 67-51.
The loss snaps the Buckeyes’ five-game winning streak and they are now 9-3 on the season and 3-1 in Big Ten play.
Freshman Malaki Branham led the team for the second-consecutive game, scoring 13 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing-out a season-high three assists. E.J. Liddell finished with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Jamari Wheeler dished-out a game-high six assists and former Hoosier Joey Brunk scored a season-high six points in his first game back in Assembly Hall.
For the game, Ohio State shot a season-low 30.8 percent and Indiana held a 38-10 advantage on points in the paint. Trayce Jackson-Davis led the Hoosiers with 27 points and 12 rebounds.
The Buckeyes shot just 34 percent in the first half and trailed 33-30 at the break. Indiana used a 7-0 run at the start of the second half to take its largest lead of the night to that point at 42-36. The Buckeyes cut the lead to one with 10 minutes to play on a couple of Branham free throws but that was as close as it would be the rest of the way.
Indiana went on a 19-3 run over the next eight minutes to put the game away.
