COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 22 Ohio State (7-1-3) knocked off visiting Maryland (0-10-2) 4-2 in the Big Ten Regional Weekend Thursday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. The Buckeyes scored four unanswered goals to advance in postseason play.
Freshman Peyton McNamara broke a 1-all tie in the 56th minute to put Ohio State in the lead for good. She added another in the 80th minute. The goals were her fourth and fifth of the season. Assists on McNamara’s second goal went to Kine Flotre and Chloe Delyser, their first career assists. Marissa Birzon assisted on the McNamara’s first goal of the day.

The Terrapins struck first with a goal in the 9th minute. The Buckeyes tied it at 1-all on a goal by Kayla Fisher in the 42nd minute.
Fisher’s equalizer was her fifth goal of the year and 14th of her career. The assist went to Izzy Rodriguez.
The Buckeyes added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute when Alyssa Baumbick scored. Assists went to Fischer and Emaly Vatne. It was the first goal of the year for Baumbick, and fifth career. Fischer has three assists this season and nine for her career. Vatne has five career assists and one this season.

After 45 minutes, the Buckeyes led 6-4 in shots with a 4-2 edge in shots on net. For the game, Ohio State owned a 13-11 edge in shots, 9-3 on goal.
The Buckeyes will face Rutgers at noon Sunday in Columbus. The Scarlet Knights defeated Michigan State 1-0 in double overtime to advance following Ohio State’s win over Maryland.
