COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s lacrosse players Marcus Hudgins, Jack Myers and Bobby Van Buren were named preseason All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Tuesday. Myers earned a spot on the second team while Hudgins and Van Buren received honorable mention nods.
Myers is set to begin his fifth season as a Buckeye this year. The 2022 Tewaaraton Award nominee and Second Team USILA, US Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse All-American has led the Buckeyes in assists for the last three seasons and was the team’s top goal-scorer in 2021. Last season for Ohio State, Myers recorded 83 points on 38 goals and 45 assists. He finished the year ranked fourth nationally in assists per game (2.81). For his career, he has tallied 194 points in 45 career games and ranks sixth all-time in Buckeye lacrosse history in career points.
Van Buren, who was named the 2022 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, is coming off a successful rookie campaign for Ohio State. The first close defenseman to be chosen as the league Freshman of the Year in the eight-year history of Big Ten lacrosse, he became just the fourth Ohio State freshman all-time be earn USILA All-America honors with an honorable mention nod following the 2022 campaign. He saw action in all 16 games last year and tied for second on the team with 11 caused turnovers. He also recorded 22 ground balls on the year. Van Buren was a key part of the Buckeye defensive unit that held six opponents to 10 goals or less.
Joining the Ohio State roster this season, Hudgins was named a USILA Preseason All-American for Army in 2022. He was named the 2021 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and named first team All-Patriot League that same season. He has produced 58 caused turnovers for his career and 97 ground balls.
