Bizal Awarded WCHA Defender of the Week Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Madison Bizal, a graduate defenseman on the No. 1 Ohio State women’s hockey team, was named the WCHA Defender of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The honor is the second of her career and first since the 2020-21 season.

Bizal led Ohio State with three assists in last weekend’s series against Minnesota State. She recorded a career-high three helpers in the Buckeyes’ 6-2 win over the Mavericks last Friday at the OSU Ice Rink, earning an apple on the second, third and fourth goals of the game. The Elk River, Minn. native has now recorded 13 assists this season for 15 points on the year.

On the other side of the ice, she blocked a team-high three shots for Ohio State. Bizal helped the team hold Minnesota State to 41 shots the entire weekend.

Ohio State makes the trip to Minneapolis, Minn. this weekend to face No. 3 Minnesota on Feb. 3-4. Puck drop between the top-two teams in the league is set for 7 p.m. ET Friday and 3 p.m. ET Saturday.
