Zenick and Hentschel Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Katherine Zenick and Lena Hentschel have earned Big Ten weekly awards, announced by the conference on Wednesday. Zenick has been named the Women’s Swimmer of the Week and Hentschel is the Women’s Diver of the Week.

Zenick and Hentschel helped the Buckeyes to a historic dual meet victory over Michigan on Jan. 21. Ohio State defeated the Wolverines, 186.5-113.5, earning its first-ever win against Michigan in Ann Arbor. It is also the first time in program history the Buckeyes have earned consecutive (2022, 2023) dual meet wins over Michigan.

Zenick won the 100 fly, touching the wall in an NCAA B cut time of 53.36. Zenick finished third in the 50 free with a time of 22.59. She was also on the winning 200 medley relay (1:38.81) and 400 free relay (3:17.14) teams.

Hentschel won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. She earned an overall score of 353.48 in the 1-meter and a score of 302.40 in the 3-meter dive. Both of Hentschel’s scores are NCAA Zones qualifying scores.

The Buckeyes are back in action this weekend, competing in the Tim Welsh Classic at Notre Dame Jan. 27-28.
