COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis staff will hold three camp sessions this summer on the Ohio State campus, with instruction available for children through adults. Three sessions will be conducted, with an adult camp, a traditional summer camp and an AM/PM camp. Chuck Merzbacher, Buckeye head coach, and his staff, along with current and former Buckeye student-athletes, will provide instruction at the camps.
Single-day camps for adults (18 and over), running from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., will be held June 5 and 12. The camp is designed to improve the play and confidence of each individual at all ability levels and will include technical instruction, stroke analysis and development and strategies for match play. Teams as well as individuals are encouraged to sign up, as it is a great tune-up for summer league season.
A summer camp for boys and girls in grades 7-12 is set for June 14-17, for both overnight and day campers. The camp, conducted in a small group format, will include technical instruction, stroke analysis and development and strategies for match play.
A new addition to the women’s tennis camps for 2010 is the AM/PM day camp for boys and girls in grades 3-12, which is designed to provide quality instruction aimed at improving all aspects of the camper’s game. It includes two sessions a day (8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3:30 p.m.) from June 28-July 1. The camp will include technical instruction, strategies for match play and mental toughness. For beginners, QuickStart Tennis, a new format that makes tennis easier for younger children to learn by using different court, racquet and ball sizes, will be available.
