The Live Video Production team enables you to be a part of every aspect that television and video has to offer for live events. We are responsible for all videoboards in 7 different venues, primarily showing and producing in game content such as game action, replays, crowd prompts and sponsorship activation.
Using the same professional equipment that the crews from the Big Ten Network and ESPN use, students get to train on, and operate Grass Valley LDK3000 cameras, K2 Dyno Replay system, Chyron / Click Effects video playback systems, and Korona multi ME video switchers.
Using State of the art video control rooms located in the Jerome Schottenstein Center and the brand new Covelli Center, our student staff is involved in all athletic productions from small 1 camera shoots, to large, full on productions for football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, wrestling and more.

BTN Student U is a student operated-broadcast production team that streams more than 200 Ohio State sporting events. BTN Student U streams through Big Ten Network streaming platforms while giving students the opportunity to learn to use the same professional equipment as the professionals at FOX Sports. In this program, students have the opportunity to receive hands-on training on several aspects of live broadcast productions. A few of these roles include: directing live events, filming the events, creating and applying graphics, running instant replay, participating in sports commentary, and even reporting on camera during the events.
Responsible hard work and dedication in the BTN Student U program can launch a career in live production and broadcasting, with recent graduates gaining employment at ESPN, FOX Sports and the Big Ten Network.

The Creative Production team works with fellow department staff and teams to produce content for athletic events, social media accounts, and television commercials. This content includes animated crowd prompts, informative content, hype videos, highlight melts, inspirational videos as well as feature stories on athletes, coaches and staff members.
Although many projects will be produced on your own, team members are expected to conceptualize and produce some content with fellow team members as part of group projects.
Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro and/or After Effects) experience is a prerequisite to become a member of our team. Other skills such as lighting, composition, shooting, and 3D animation are not mandatory but appreciated. Applicants must be willing to work a minimum of 6 hours per week and meet deadlines.
