Eloise Tressel, the wife of the late Dr. Lee J. Tressel and the mother of three sons, including Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel, died late Saturday afternoon at The Arthur James Cancer Hospital on the campus of The Ohio State University. Mrs. Tressel, 76, had been suffering from pancreatic and liver cancer.
“My brothers and I and all of our family would like to thank the doctors and care givers, both at The James and in our hometown of Berea, Ohio, who took such excellent care of my mother,” Jim Tressel said. “We want to thank too the many people who have kept us in their hearts and prayers.”
Mrs. Tressel is survived by sons Dick, Jim and Dave, as well as 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, who died in 1981.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Berea Historical Society, the Baldwin Wallace College Athletic Archives and The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University.
