Top Seeded Buckeyes Sweep Wake Forest in the ITA National Indoor Championship Quarterfinals


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 ranked and top seeded Ohio State men’s tennis team beat eighth seeded Wake Forest 4-0 in the Quarterfinals of the ITA Indoor National Championship in Seattle on Saturday. This is their second time sweeping Wake Forest on the year with their previous win being a 7-0 sweep last Sunday.

This win boosts the Buckeyes to an undefeated 11-0 and they will face fifth seeded TCU on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. E.T in the Semifinal round.

The Buckeyes clinched the first point of the day with a two-match sweep. Cannon Kingsley and JJ Tracy came out hot and finished first on court three with a quick 6-2 victory. The No. 1 ranked doubles team, Matej Vocel and Robert Cash, bounced back from their first loss of the season yesterday and finished on court two with a 6-3 victory over 20th ranked Schnaitter and Banthia.

The singles matches ended in a sweep as well.  Robert Cash finished first on court six with a quick 6-2, 6-4 sweep.  All Buckeyes finished soon after. JJ Tracy finished with a 7-5 first set win and a dominant 6-0 second set victory. For the Buckeye’s final point of the day, Vocel finished on court one with a decisive 6-2, 6-3 win.
