TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior Jamie Stone scored a 9.925 on floor exercise at the Big Five Meet on Saturday evening held at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio, posting a team-best score for the season and winning the title.
Ohio State placed fifth with a score of 194.600. No. 8 Michigan took first (197.750), followed by No. 14 Minnesota (196.700), Illinois (195.525) and Rutgers (194.650).
The Buckeyes scored a seventh consecutive score of 49.000 or over on bars to start out the meet, led by junior Olivia Aepli and sophomore Jenna Swartzentruber, both posting scores of 9.850. Freshman Claire Gagliardi added a 9.825. The team finished with a 49.050.
On beam, Jamie Stone scored a team-high of 9.800. The team posted a 47.975.
After a bye, the Buckeyes returned to action on floor. Stone continued to excel, scoring a season-high of 9.925, also a team-high for the season. As a squad, OSU finished the rotation with a 48.675.
Ending the night on vault, Aepli posted a 9.825. The Buckeyes earned a 48.900 overall through the rotation.
Aepli was the team’s top all-arounder, taking fourth with a score of 39.150. Stone tied for fifth with a score of 39.100.
Ohio State hosts a tri-meet on Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m., welcoming Temple and West Virginia to St. John Arena.
