Kyle Gallagher

Kyle Gallagher joined the Ohio State men's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2027 season.

In his role with the Buckeye program, Gallagher will serve as the defensive coordinator while also assisting in game planning, scouting and recruiting efforts.

Gallagher just finished his fifth year as an assistant at Bucknell where he also served as the team's defensive coordinator in 2026 after running the offense for the last two seasons. Gallagher also served as the program's recruiting coordinator.

During his time at Bucknell, the Bison had 11 All-Patriot League selections and in 2026 the Bucknell defense finished second in the conference in goals allowed in his lone season as the defensive coordinator. Working with Gallagher, goalie Jaz Zanelli finished second in the conference and top 25 nationally in goals allowed per game.

In his previous two seasons as the offensive coordinator the Bison offense was one of the best in the country, ranking 14th nationally in scoring offense (12.93 goals per game) while also leading the conference and ranking 12th in the country with just 14.71 turnovers per game in 2025.

Gallagher played a key role in training Tewaaraton Award Watch List member and 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Connor Davis who finished his career as the Bison all-time leading goal scorer with 150 goals. He was just the sixth Bison to net at least 40 goals in a single campaign and the second Bison to accomplish two 40-goal seasons.

Gallagher has made previous collegiate coaching stops at Salisbury University, Susquehanna University, and Widener University. Prior to his arrival at Bucknell, Gallagher worked as a Maryland state team director and head coach for True Lacrosse.

Serving as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Salisbury, Gallagher helped the Sea Gulls reach the 2019 NCAA Division III semifinals with a 22-2 record. The Sea Gulls were also 7-0 and ranked first in the nation in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gallagher spent three seasons at Susquehanna, serving as offensive coordinator in 2016 and 2017 and defensive coordinator/faceoffs coach in 2018. The River Hawks were awarded Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in his first season and went 33-19 with Gallagher on staff.

Gallagher’s first collegiate coaching experience was as an assistant coach and faceoffs coach for the Widener Pride during the 2015 season, and before that coached Worcester Preparatory School, Demar High School and the Green Turtle/Quiet Storm Eastern Shore Club teams.

During his playing days, Gallagher helped lead Salisbury to three Capital Athletic Conference titles as well as back-to-back national championship titles in 2011 and 2012, appearing in 82 games over the course of his collegiate career as a midfielder.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2012 from Salisbury while also going on to earn his master’s of education from Salisbury.
