John Trainer

Men's & Women's Basketball Social Media Coordinator

Joined Ohio State in September of 2025. He serves as the social media manager for the men’s and women’s basketball programs.

Trainer received his undergraduate degree in journalism from Tennessee in May of 2024. While in Knoxville, he was a student intern for three seasons in the Digital Strategy/Social Media department. He also served as a team manager for the men’s tennis team for two seasons.

Following graduation, Trainer was a recruiting and operations intern with the Georgia Tech football program during the 2024 season. He then went to Stanford as the Assistant Director of Digital Strategy, handling all aspects of the GoStanford account as well as the men’s basketball accounts.

Trainer grew up in Omaha, Neb., where he attended Creighton Prep and was a star on the varsity basketball team.
