Gretchen received a Journalism degree at Ohio State and never left the University, working first at the University Press (scholarly book publishing) as a student and in the beginning of her career, and then moving to the Trademark & Licensing department where she has remained for 25 years.

As part of a small department running a large independent licensing program, Gretchen has hands-on experience in every aspect of licensing and works closely with Ohio State’s licensees which range in size from international corporations to one-person startups. Gretchen has developed the university’s crafter program in an effort to support local business in the state of Ohio. She is also responsible for online trademark enforcement efforts.

Gretchen has participated in the FLA Guiding Principles Pilot program and Working Group as well as the Public Disclosure Advisory Committee and is eager to continue the work to keep Ohio State University a leader in this sphere. Ohio State was instrumental in the formation of the FLA, and the inclusion of university partners.

In her spare time Gretchen enjoys spending time with her husband Bill, son Tommy, and dog Teddy, and working on the non-profit organization she has established in memory of her son Henry.
