Andrew Kovar

Andrew Kovar joined Ohio State Athletics as a Director of Communications on May 4, 2026.
Along with Senior Associate Athletic Director for Football Strategic Communications Will Pantages, Kovar manages all aspects of football media relations, strategic messaging and public relations planning, setting the tone and direction for how the program is presented to local, national and global audiences. He also is the lead contact for the men’s lacrosse program.
Kovar came to Columbus after spending six-plus years at Wake Forest University where he most recently served as the Assistant AD of Creative and Communications as the day-to-day contact for the football and women’s basketball program while also leading the photography and graphic design teams in the creative services unit.
Prior to Wake Forest, Kovar spent a year and a half at the University of Tennessee where he served as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications and was the primary media contact for the Volunteers’ volleyball, men’s golf and women’s programs, while also being the secondary spring football contact for the Tennessee program.
Kovar also spent the 2017-18 athletic year at University of Florida where he was the primary contact for the men’s and women’s golf programs and the secondary men’s basketball contact as well as playing an integral role in the football communications team.
Additionally, he spent the 2016-17 year at Union College in New York where he was the primary contact for nine sports.
A native of Wadsworth, Illinois, Kovar completed his undergraduate degree in journalism from Ohio University in 2016.
