Since joining the program, Cangrejo has helped continue the program’s ascent onto the national stage. In her first season, the Buckeyes set eight team program records, claimed a pair of team titles and finished third in the Big Ten Championship.
Â
In 2024-25, Cangrejo and the Buckeyes once again shattered program records by shooting the three lowest rounds in Ohio State history and finishing at an astonishing 45-under par at the Clemson Invitational. Later in the spring, the Buckeyes qualified for the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2018.
Â
Cangrejo played a key role in the development of All-American Kary Hollenbaugh, who won a school-record four events in 2024-25. Hollenbaugh also played in the US Women’s Open and has twice been invited to participate in the Augusta Women’s Amateur. She also helped guide Nellie Ong to an All-Big Ten season in 2025-26 and she earned a spot on the 2026 Curtis Cup.
The 2025-26 season was another great season that ended with a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship. The team had a pair of wins and six Top 5 finishes. Three sophomores and two freshmen grew their games and gained valuable experience, finishing runner-up at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.Â
Cangrejo, a native of Bogota, Colombia, played from 2010-14 at Duke University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology/sociology. She was a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and the All-ACC Academic Team from 2011-14.
She has played professionally on the Symetra Tour since 2015, competing in about 20 tournaments per year. Her best finish to date was tied for eighth at the Windsor (Calif.) Golf Classic in 2017.
Cangrejo helped Duke win the ACC title from 2012-14 and the Blue Devils won the NCAA Championship in 2014 and were runner-up in 2013.
