- Hunter broke the 50m backstroke world record at the 2022 Phillips 66 U.S. International Team Trials in a time of 23.71.
- Named Ohio State’s 2021-22 Male Athlete of the Year
- Helped the U.S. 4×100 medley relay team take gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021
- Qualified for his first World Championships in 2022 and went on to win five medals – two gold, two silver and a bronze
- Earned the Buckeyes’ highest finish at the 2022 NCAA Championship meet, finishing fifth in the 100 backstroke
- Won five titles at the 2022 Big Ten Championship meet, including the 50 and 100 freestyle crowns

- Hunter was a true sophomore at Ohio State in 2020-21 and was an OSU Scholar-Athlete who is majoring in sport industry.

- Took runner-up honors at the Olympic Trials to 2016 Olympic champion and Ryan Murphy in the 100 backstroke with a personal best swim of 52.48 in the finals.
- He qualified second overall for the finals with a then-personal best – LCM – in the 100 back of 52.67.
- Was a points scoring force for the Buckeyes at the 2021 Big Ten championships by scoring in seven events for the third-place Buckeyes.
- Top finishes at Big Tens included a runner-up in the 100 backstroke, third in the 100 free and fourth in the 50 free.
- Earned four All-America honors at the NCAA championships, including honorable mention honors in the 100 backstroke after finishing 13th.
- Part of the first-team All-America 200 medley relay team that finished fourth at the NCAA championships.
- Helped Ohio State to a seventh-place finish at NCAAs that, coupled with its ninth-place finish in 2019, represented the highest back-to-back national finishes for the program in 58 years.
Prior to Ohio State
- Hunter transferred to Ohio State from West Virginia University in time for the 2020-21 season.
- He was a member of the Big 12 Conference commissioner’s honor roll and the WVU Garrett Ford honor roll while competing for the Mountaineers.
- He swam at Dover (Ohio) High for coach Brenda Wherley.
- He was an eight-time all-state swimmer and two-time state runner-up.
