Prior to Ohio State
- Justin was a two-time national champion, winning the 50 backstroke in 2018 at the Long Course Y Nationals, and winning the 100 back at the 2019 YMCA Short Course National Championships.
- Older brother, Josh, was an All-American swimmer for the Buckeyes who graduated in 2017.
