Corey Brueggeman begins his second season as an assistant coach and fourth as the director of operations for the men’s soccer program after five seasons as the head coach at Manchester (Ind.) University (2016-21).
In 2024, the Buckeyes enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in Ohio State history. The Buckeyes advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 College Cup after winning the Big Ten Tournament and earning a share of the 2024 league regular-season title. Ohio State finished with a 16-2-4 overall record and ended the home portion of the schedule at 10-0-4. The 16 wins are the second most in program history and the home win total set an Ohio State record.
In his five seasons as the head coach of the Spartans, Brueggeman helped guide Manchester to an overall record of 42-39-5, including a 27-16-1 record in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Spartans registered Top 4 finishes in the HCAC in each of the past four seasons.
Brueggeman helped guide the 2017 edition of the Manchester Spartans its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament bid since 2010, and was the first double-digit win campaign since 2007.
In the classroom, Manchester earned United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award honors twice under Brueggeman’s tutelage (2018 & 2020). Thirty players earned Academic All-Heartland Collegiate Conference honors during Brueggeman’s tenure as head coach.
No stranger to the Manchester men’s soccer program, Brueggeman served as the assistant coach to former Manchester head coach Dave Good for three years. Prior to becoming an assistant coach, he worked with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer in their marketing and promotions department after graduating with a degree in sport management from Manchester University in 2012. A two-time All-HCAC honoree and three-year captain on the pitch for the Spartans, Brueggeman is among the top five in scoring at Manchester.
Brueggeman also has additional coaching experience as the U17 and U19 Technical Director at the Fort Wayne Sport Club. Corey has two diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches and a National D License from the United Soccer Federation.
Brueggeman graduated with a master’s of science in recreation and sport management from Indiana State in 2015.
