Quinn Tempel in his 12th season working in an administrative capacity for the Ohio State football program. He was promoted to Chief of Staff & Assistant to the Head Coach in January 2023 after working the previous four years as Director of Football Operations.
Tempel works closely alongside head coach Ryan Day. He oversees all areas of the program, including administration for the team (scheduling, staff meetings, liaison to the Dept. of Athletics, human resources, budget etc.), facility (scheduling, field use, graphics and maintenance) and support staff (player development, operations, recruiting, creative, facilities, equipment and technology areas).
From 2015-18 Tempel was the assistant director of football operations, and in 2019 he was promoted to director of football operations.
Tempel is all Ohio and he is all Buckeye. He grew up in Antwerp, a small town in northwest Ohio, and graduated from Antwerp High School.
Tempel attended Ohio State and graduated in 2013 with his degree in sports studies. In 2018, he earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Ohio State.
After working as a student manager as an undergrad, Tempel became an offensive graduate assistant coach in 2014. Ohio State won the inaugural College Football Playoff national championship that year as well as a Big Ten Conference title.
In addition to two national championship seasons (2014 and 2024), Tempel has been a part of Ohio State football teams that have won seven Big Ten championships, including a conference-record four consecutive (2017-18-19-20) and 10 post-season wins: over No. 1 Alabama (in the 2015 Sugar Bowl), No. 8 Notre Dame (2016 Fiesta Bowl), No. 8 USC (2018 Cotton Bowl), No. 9 Washington (2019 Rose Bowl), No. 2 Clemson (2021 Sugar Bowl), No. 11 Utah (2022 Rose Bowl), No. 7 Tennessee (2024 CFP first-round), No. 1 Oregon (2025 Rose Bowl), No. 3 Texas (2025 Cotton Bowl) and No. 5 Notre Dame (2025 CFP championship game).
Tempel and his wife, Madison, have a young daughter, Kennedy.
