Athletes in Medicine
Athletes in Medicine allows student-athletes to participate in a series of informational meetings led by former Division I student-athletes who are currently enrolled in the Ohio State College of Medicine. Through these meetings, individuals interested in healthcare are able to engage in medical-specific mock interviews and CV reviews, discuss MCAT preparation and application timelines, and gain mentors who have been in their shoes.

“Athletes in Medicine has allowed me to connect with healthcare professionals, which has expanded my understanding of the field. It is great to collaborate with other athletes who are also interested in medicine.” - Angelie Roger (Synchronized Swimming)
“Athletes in Medicine has provided me a great opportunity to network with former student-athletes who have experienced what it is like to be a premed undergraduate while also balancing a varsity sport. I have been able to shadow at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric ENT department through AIM, which has allowed me to develop new skills and interests. I am so grateful for all the opportunities provided.” - Joshua Sobecks (Cheer)
“I’ve started to build connections and gain valuable insights on
the health field that will guide me to success. I enjoyed the
speakers and talking with fellow athletes about their journey
and plans for the future.” - Nathan Streby (Men’s Track and
Field)
Where Are They Now: Former Athletes in Medicine
Nevin Adamski, a Virginia native, competed as a gymnast at Ohio State from 2016-2020. In her time, she excelled not only on the competition floor but in the classroom. Adamski was a Ohio State Scholar Athlete, an Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and a Woody & Anne Hayes award recipient. After graduating from Ohio State with a degree in Biology, Adamski continued her studies in medical school. She attended Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and is currently an Emergency Medicine resident physician.
“The resources available at Ohio State helped me navigate the complex path to medical school and encouraged me to not compromise on my career goals despite the demands of being a student-athlete. I am most grateful for the test prep courses, interview coaching and incredible mentors, including my athletic coaches, who displayed the same enthusiasm and compassion that I hope is reflected in the care I provide to my patients.” - Nevin Adamski
