Snyder, Buckeye Comrades Primed for World Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Buckeye legend Kyle Snyder is seeking his third Senior World title since 2015, beginning competition at the ’19 event on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. Snyder selected fellow Buckeyes Tervel Dlagnev and Myles Martin to also embark on this journey as his corner coach and training partner, respectively.

Snyder is seeded No. 1 at 97-kilograms, the premier weight class which will serve as the last Finals of the entire competition. Russian Abdulrashid Sadulaev is seeded second. The two have met in each of the last two 97-kg World Finals with Snyder taking Round One in 2017 before Sadulaev evened the score a year ago.

Additional Olympic medalists in the field include:  Valeri Andriitsev (Ukraine, ’12 silver), Albert Saritov (Romania, ’16 bronze) and Magomed Idrisovitch Ibragimov (Uzbekistan, ’16 bronze). Two-time World champion (2011, 2013) Reza Mohammad Ali Yazdani of Iran is also expected to vie for the 97-kg crown.
