Riedell Set to Begin Pro Career with Lehigh Valley

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Will Riedell, a graduate student on the Ohio State men’s hockey team in 2021-22, has signed a professional tryout agreement with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL.
A defenseman from Greensboro, N.C., Riedell played one season at Ohio State after earning his degree in business administration in Spring 2021 from Lake Superior State, where he earned WCHA All-Academic Team accolades. A 2022 Senior CLASS Award Top 10 finalist, Riedell was a captain for the Buckeyes this year while working toward a graduate degree in public management.
Riedell skated in 171 collegiate games and posted 61 points on 20 goals and 41 assists, with 157 blocked shots. He had 10 points, with three goals and seven assists, with 50 shot blocks, for the Buckeyes in 2021-22, with Ohio State 15th nationally in scoring defense, allowing 2.35 goals per game.
Tanner Laczynski, an All-American for the men’s hockey Buckeyes who played from 2017-20, currently plays for the Phantoms.
