#ProBucks Update – Schepers Signs With Whitecaps

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey alum Liz Schepers has signed with the Minnesota Whitecaps, the organization announced Monday.

“The Whitecaps are a first-class organization and have meant so much to the Minnesota hockey community,” Schepers said. “I grew up watching the Whitecaps and am very excited to continue my playing career back in my home state.”

Schepers captained the 2021-22 Buckeye team that won the program’s first national championship. She was an instrumental part of the transformation the team has seen under the guidance of head coach Nadine Muzerall. Schepers played five years for the Buckeyes and helped the team to both of its WCHA Final Faceoff crowns and all three of its Frozen Four appearances. The forward owns the Ohio State record with 170 games in the Scarlet & Gray sweater and has recorded a program-high 18 career postseason points.

The Mound, Minn. native joins Lexi Templeman as members of the 2022 national championship team that have signed to the Premier Hockey Federation. Templeman signed to the Toronto Six in June for the 2022-23 season.

Also joining the pro ranks are Sara Saekkinen and Eve Savander, who graduated in May of 2022. The Finnish duo continues to play with one another and returns to Europe to play for Sweden’s AIK Hockey.
