COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team travels to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia this weekend. More than 200 colleges and universities will be competing at the three-day meet, being held for the first time since 2019 and the 126th time overall.
On Thursday, the collegiate portion of the meet will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women’s hammer throw and at 5:35 p.m. with the women’s 400m hurdles. On Friday, collegiate field events will begin at noon and track events at 12:30 p.m. with the women’s distance medley relay. On Saturday, the women’s discus throw will kick off collegiate competition at 9:30 a.m. The women’s 4x1500m relay will begin the track events at 12:30 p.m.
- The Buckeyes hosted the annual Jesse Owens Classic this past weekend at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, combining for 14 track wins and 10 field wins.
- Adelaide Aquilla broke the school outdoor, meet and stadium record in the discus throw (57.38m) by throwing more than 10 meters further than the rest of the field. Aquilla also broke the stadium record in the shot put (18.94m) as she already holds the program record. In the shot put, Aquilla beat all competitors by at least 3.83m.
- The Ohio State women’s 4x100m relay ran a 43.27, the second-fastest time in school outdoor history, to set a Jesse Owens Stadium record. Leah Bertrand, Anavia Battle, Nya Bussey and Yanique Dayle ran the relay.
- In the women’s 800m, Aziza Ayoub (2:03.78) and Mary Figler (2:04.81) ran the second and fourth-fastest times in OSU women’s outdoor history.
- On the men’s side, Tanner Watson’s 58.22m discus throw and Luke Bendick’s 5.33m pole vault both ranked second in OSU men outdoor school history.
- Bryannia Murphy clocked the third-fastest time in school outdoor history in the 400m (52.12).
- In the women’s 1500m, Addie Engel (4:21.20) and Ayoub (4:21.97) ran the fourth and fifth-fastest times in program outdoor history.
- The Buckeye women had a trio on the top-five all-time list of OSU outdoor performances for the 100m, but the wind exceeded the acceptable threshold for records. Battle’s 11.06 would have been a school record if wind legal, while Bertrand (11.21) and Bussey (11.22) would’ve been fourth and fifth, respectively.
