Ohio State Student-Athletes Receive 2003 Big Ten Academic All-Conference Team Accolades – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State led the conference with 141 student-athletes named to the 2003 Big Ten Academic All-Conference Team for spring and at-large sports. To be eligible for the team a student-athlete must be a letterwinner in at least their second year at their school and have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Ohio State’s student-athletes are excelling on the field as well as in the classroom, as a number of Buckeyes with outstanding athletic accomplishments this season earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades. Sophomore golfer Kristen White (Doylestown, Pa. /Central Bucks East) was named Big Ten Player of the Year and also is a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete. Allison Hanna (Portland, Ore./ David Douglas), a junior member of the golf team, won medalist honors at the conference championship. A member of the men’s tennis team, Vincent Ng was named the Big Ten Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Year. Ng received the 2003 Ohio State Big Ten Medal of Honor and set the career singles record at OSU with 127 wins. Victoria Bowen (Plano, Texas/ Plano), a senior synchronized swimmer, received the OSU Big Ten Medal of Honor and was the Collegiate National solo and element champion at the 2003 Collegiate Nationals. Krista Keir (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South), a senior track and field member, has a 4.00 GPA to lead the Buckeyes.
The Big Ten Conference recognized 1,851 Academic All-Big Ten honorees during the 2002-03 academic year. Ohio State set a single-season record with 250 honorees this year, ending Penn State’s six-year run of having the most recipients each year. The Buckeyes have had 1,324 honorees over the last seven years.
