Ohio State Meets Rutgers Sunday on BTN

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team closes out the first month of the season against Rutgers at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30 at the Covelli Center. The meet between the Buckeyes (1-2) and Scarlet Knights (3-4) will be nationally televised on the Big Ten Network.

Ohio State as of Late
- Ohio State won its first meet of the season last weekend against Penn State with a final score of 196.450.
- Four Buckeyes have hit scores of at least 9.900 this season. All of the scores were met during the team’s meet against the Nittany Lions. Nicole Riccardi (bars), Tory Vetter (beam) and Alexis Hankins (floor) all hit 9.900 scores against Penn State. Jenna Hlavach led the team with a 9.925 on floor.
- The team won its first event title of the season last weekend, scoring a 49.150 on bars for a season-high on the apparatus.
- Seven gymnasts have earned individual event titles this season, including Stephanie Berger, Elexis Edwards, Hlavach, Ella Hodges, Sydney Jennings, Colby Miller, Riccardi and Vetter. Edwards, Hlavach and Miller lead the way with two wins on vault, floor and uneven bars, respectively.
- Through the first three meets of the season, the underclassmen hold team-best scores on three of the four events. Hlavach’s 9.925 on beam is the highest score among all Buckeyes this season. Vetter and Riccardi own the team’s highest individual score of 9.900 on beam and uneven bars, respectively.
- Edwards, Vetter and Riccardi rank top 10 in the conference so far this year on their respective events. Edwards is tied for seventh in the Big Ten on vault with an average score of 9.875. Vetter is tied for sixth with a collegiate-debut score of 9.900 on beam. Riccardi is third in the conference with her season-debut 9.900 on uneven bars.
- All five Buckeye freshmen have made their way into the lineup at some point this season. Hlavach and Kaitlyn Grimes has competed in all three meets, Maddy Pike and Stephanie Berger have competed in two and Vetter in one.
- In the latest Road to Nationals rankings, the Buckeyes enter the matchup with the Scarlet Knights at No. 22.
Buckeyes vs. Scarlet Knights
- Ohio State owns a 9-2 record against Rutgers in the all-time series.
- Last season, the Buckeyes competed against the Scarlet Knights twice – once in a quad-meet with Penn State and Michigan State and the other in a dual in Piscataway, N.J. Ohio State defeated Rutgers in both meetings and has won the last five matchups against the team.

- Due to other home athletics events, fans parking for women’s gymnastics must let parking attendants know that they are parking for the gymnastics meet.
- The university and City of Columbus policies require wearing of masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, for all faculty, staff and invitees. The department requires all patrons at our events to wear your mask at all times for your own safety and for the health, safety and well-being of others, including our student-athletes, campus community and visitors. The university and the Department of Athletics encourage individuals to get vaccinated, boostered and to continue safety protocols.
- Concessions will be closed at all university-related athletic events. Water will be available. Fans will not be permitted to bring food/beverage into athletic facilities.
