COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3/4 Ohio State women’s basketball team (8-0, 1-0 B1G) hosts New Hampshire (4-6) on Thursday for an 11 a.m. tip. The game will be broadcast on B1G+.
In partnering with the Columbus City Schools and the 2nd and 7 Foundation, Ohio State will welcome nearly 4,000 students to the game. View HERE for the full release.
- Ohio State was selected at No. 3 in Monday’s weekly AP poll, tying the highest ranking in program history. The Buckeyes were previously ranked third for four weeks in November and December of 2009.
- 3/4 Ohio State began conference play on Sunday at Rutgers. The Buckeyes gave up a season-low six points in the opening quarter and maintained the lead throughout, earning the 82-70 win.
- Rebeka Mikulasikova (career-high 31 points) and Taylor Mikesell (season-high 30 points) dominated, shooting a combined 62.2 percent from the floor and 50 percent from long range – including Mikesell’s 6-of-12.
- This is just the third time in program history that two players have scored 30+ in the same game and the first time since Ameryst Alston (39) and Kelsey Mitchell (36) did so on Feb. 21, 2016 against Illinois. Kim Jordan (32) and Frani Washington (30) were the first duo to accomplish this feat on Jan. 20, 1979 against Indiana State.
- New Hampshire enters the game with a 4-6 record and is coming off a 64-58 win against Wagner on Monday night.
- Other Wildcats wins this season include an 83-24 decision against Colby-Sawyer in the season opener, a 59-56 win at Dartmouth and a 64-45 win at Central Connecticut State.
- New Hampshire has a trio averaging double figures in Avery O’Connor (12.8), Brooke Kane (10.8) and Breezie Williams (10.0), despite averaging 57.7 points per game as a team. Kane also leads the team in rebounding with an average of 5.7 rpg.
- This is the first-ever meeting between Ohio State and New Hampshire.
