COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State women’s volleyball team (19-9, 15-5 B1G) hosts the first and second rounds of the 2022 NCAA Tournament after being selected as a No. 3 seed. This is the second-consecutive season that the Buckeyes will host the first two rounds inside the Covelli Center.

  • The Buckeyes earned a No. 3 seed in the tournament with the top eight teams in each region being seeded this season, making the program’s 25th NCAA Tournament appearance.
  • Kylie Murr was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Mac Podraza the Big Ten Setter of the Year on Wednesday, both being the first in program history to win their respective awards.
  • Emily Londot joined Murr and Podraza on the All-Big Ten First Team, while Gabby Gonzales and Rylee Rader made All-Big Ten Second Team and Mia Grunze was the Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.
  • Tennessee State enters the NCAA Tournament with a 19-15 overall record and a 10-8 mark in the OVC.
  • The Tigers are riding a seven-match win streak after winning the OVC Tournament championship with a trio of five-set matches, beating fifth-seeded SEMO in the championship match.
  • Johanna Alcantara leads the Tennessee State offense with 501 kills on the season (3.80 per set), while Gina Rivera-Ortiz leads the defense with 731 digs (5.58 per set).
  • This is the first meeting in the all-time series between Ohio State and Tennessee State.
  • High Point enters the tournament with a 23-9 record and a 14-2 conference record this season.
  • The Panthers won the Big South Tournament by sweeping top-seeded Campbell in the finals after winning in four sets against third-seeded Winthrop in the first match.
  • Sydney Palazzolo leads the HPU offense with nearly four kills per set throughout the season, while Jenny Wessling is averaging 4.45 digs per set to lead the defense.
  • USC enters the tournament with a 21-10 overall record and a 13-7 mark in the Pac-12.
  • The Trojans earned a home win against UCLA in four sets in the regular-season finale this past Friday night.
  • USC has six NCAA Championships as a program, most recently taking the crown in 2003.
