COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 6 Ohio State women’s volleyball team (13-5, 9-1 B1G) hosts RV Michigan (13-7, 4-6 B1G) on Wednesday evening. The 7 p.m. match will be broadcast on ESPNU.
Treat-or-treat will take place on the concourse prior to the start of the match. The first 500 students will receive a specially-designed T-shirt.
- Ohio State was ranked sixth in this week’s AVCA poll.
- On Monday, Kylie Murr was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
- Ohio State enters the match with a 13-5 overall record and a 9-1 record in Big Ten play, which is second in the conference.
- The Buckeyes beat Iowa in four sets (25-18, 22-25, 25-10, 25-18) on Friday night inside Covelli.
- The Buckeyes continue to have a balanced attack with three averaging at least 3.00 kills/set apiece – Emily Londot (3.71), Gabby Gonzales (3.31) and Jenaisya Moore (3.05).
- Michigan enters the match with a 13-7 record and a 4-6 record in Big Ten matches. The Wolverines are coming off a four-set loss (25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 19-25) against No. 5 Wisconsin in Ann Arbor on Sunday.
- The Wolverines are 1-5 against ranked opponents this season, with the victory coming against a (then) top-10 Penn State team in the Big Ten opener in straight sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-19).
- Jess Mruzik leads the Michigan offense with 3.64 kills/set, while Hannah Grant leads the back line with 4.06 digs/set. Maddie Dowd and Scottee Johnson split time setting for Michigan, averaging 6.78 and 5.52 assists/set, respectively.
- Ohio State leads 55-29 in the all-time series against Michigan. The Buckeyes also have 29-11 advantage when playing the Wolverines in Columbus.
- The Buckeyes own the last five meetings of the series with the Wolverines, including a four-set win (25-22, 25-18, 17-25, 25-21) on Sept. 28 in Ann Arbor.
- The Wolverines’ most recent win in the series came on Oct. 6, 2019 in Columbus when Michigan earned the sweep (20-25, 21-25, 19-25).
