COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3/4 Ohio State women’s basketball team (9-0, 1-0 B1G) hosts Michigan State (6-4, 0-1 B1G) on Sunday afternoon for the Big Ten home opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. in a game broadcast on BTN.
- Ohio State enters the game with a 9-0 record after beating New Hampshire 92-36 on Thursday on kids’ day.
- The Buckeyes’ seven points allowed in the second half of a 92-36 win against New Hampshire was tied for the program record.
- OSU’s defense continued its streak of forcing 20+ turnovers in every game this season by forcing UNH into 27 turnovers.
- Cotie McMahon led the Buckeye offense by tying her career-high 20 points. Taylor Mikesell scored in double figures for the ninth time this season and Taylor Thierry shot 7-of-9 from the floor.
- Michigan State holds a 6-4 record and a 0-1 mark in Big Ten play.
- The Spartans began the season 6-0 before falling short against No. 5/4 Iowa State and No. 18/18 Oregon in the Phil Knight Invitational.
- MSU lost to Purdue 76-71 in overtime in the Big Ten opener after orchestrating a 14-point fourth-quarter comeback to force overtime with a made layup with two seconds remaining in regulation.
- Kamaria McDaniel and Matilda Ekh lead the Michigan State offense with 15.1 and 11.9 points per game, respectively. Gabby Elliott leads the Spartans on the boards, averaging 5.2 per game.
- Ohio State leads 56-29 in the all-time series against Michigan State, a number later adjusted after the NCAA vacated certain wins. When the teams meet in Columbus, the Buckeyes have the 23-11 advantage in the series.
- Last season, Ohio State won all three meetings with the Spartans, including a 74-58 decision in the Big Ten Quarterfinals.
