COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will open it’s highly-anticipated 2022-23 season with a home bout vs Virginia Tech at the Covelli Center.
The match with the Hokies Nov. 11 is one of three in the non-conference for the Buckeyes, who also will host Columbia Nov. 18 and Kent State Dec. 11.
Additional schedule information will be announced at a later date as will start times and broadcast designations.
Ohio State traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia, last season and came away with a 17-13 win over the Hokies. The teams have met a total of 18 times in dual competition since 1963 with the Buckeyes winning in 15 of the battles.
Ohio State and the Lions of Columbia have met just once previously, a 37-0 road win for the Buckeyes in New York Jan. 3, 2010.
The intrastate series with Kent State resumes for the first time since the teams met in Columbus Nov. 21, 2017, a 38-9 Ohio State win.
The Buckeyes are 18-6 overall in the series with wins in the last nine meetings. The series dates back to 1930 when the Golden Flashes made to trip to Columbus and fell to the Buckeyes 19-8.
