COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8/10 Ohio State women’s basketball team (2-0) makes an in-state trip to Athens to face Ohio (0-2) on Thursday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in a game streamed on ESPN+.
- 8/10 Ohio State travels to Athens to face Ohio on Thursday.
- OSU opened the season last Tuesday at home with an 87-75 win against (then) No. 5/4 Tennessee. Ohio State had all five starters score in double figures and forced 29 turnovers from the Lady Vols.
- The Buckeyes improved to 2-0 with an 82-64 win at Boston College on Sunday as the OSU defense had 20 steals, the most by the Buckeyes since Dec. 16, 2016. Jacy Sheldon’s 11 steals were the most by an OSU player since Tomeka Brown’s 10 on Feb. 17, 2002.
- Taylor Mikesell joined Sheldon on the Wooden Award Preseason Watch List, while Rebeka Mikulasikova earned a spot on the B1G weekly honor roll.
- Ohio began the season with two losses, falling to LIU by a 74-67 margin on Nov. 7 in Athens in the season opener.
- The Bobcats then lost a 66-65 heartbreaker on the road at Longwood last Thursday, as the Lancers made a jumper with six seconds remaining to win the game.
- Red-shirt senior guard Caitlyn Kroll leads the Ohio offense with 11.5 points, while sophomore forward Ella Pope leads the Bobcats on the boards averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.
- Ohio State leads the all-time series 21-1 against Ohio, though the Bobcats earned the 74-68 win in the teams’ most recent meeting in 2019.
- The Buckeyes and Bobcats have played five games in Athens before Thursday’s game with Ohio State claiming those five victories.
