COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State (4-0) took care if intrastate foe Kent State (0-1) Sunday 32-9 at the Covelli Center (Att: 3,460).
Freshman Nic Bouzakis (133) and redshirt freshman Mike Misita (HWT) won their first matches in dual competitions.

125 | Malik Heinselman (OSU) def. Jake Ferri (KSU) | 4-3
Heinselman scored the match’s first takedown with less than 30 seconds left in the first period for a 2-0 lead. He added another point with an escape to start the second. Ferri escaped with a minute left in the third and added a late takedown to tie it at 3-all. With a point for riding time, Heinselman won by decision, 4-3.
133 | Nic Bouzakis (OSU) def. Brendon Fenton (KSU) | D, 5-0
Bouzakis recorded a takedown in the first minute for the 2-0 lead after one. Bouzakis added two more with a reversal to start the second to lead 4-0 headed to the third. With a point for riding time, Bouzakis won by decision, 5-0. It was his first dual win as a Buckeye.

Newell scored first with an escape to start the second period. D’Emilio countered with an escape at the opening of the third to tie it at 1-all. With under a minute left, D’Emilio scored the only takedown of the match to win by decision, 3-1.

149 | Sammy Sasso (OSU) def. Kody Komara (KSU) | TF, 19-3
With just over a minute gone, Sasso got the first takedown. After a Komara escape, Sasso added another takedown for a 4-1 lead. Another takedown made it 6-2 Sasso. Komara escaped and Sasso added another two with a takedown for an 8-3 lead headed to the third. Sasso escaped and added a takedown followed by four more for the near fall to make it 15-3. Sasso added another four-point near fall to win by technical fall, 19-3.

157 | Keegan Knapp (KSU) def. Isaac Wilcox (OSU) | D, 6-3
Wilcox scored first (takedown) and led 2-1 heading to the second after a late Knapp escape. Wilcox added an escape to open the second. Knapp countered with a takedown to tie it at 3-all with one period to go. Knapp took a 4-3 lead with an escape and added an escape to win by decision, 6-3.

174| Ethan Smith (OSU) def. Mason Karpinski (KSU) | TF, 21-6
Smith scored first with a takedown before adding another after a Karpinski escape to make it 4-1. It was 6-2 going into the second period. After several takedowns, Smith built the lead to 12-5 after two. Smith finished off the match to win by technical fall, 21-6.

184 | Kaleb Romero (OSU) def. Tyler Bates (KSU) | TF, 25-10
Romero got the first takedown and added another following a Bates escape to lead 4-1 after the first. Romero scored a reversal and a takedown around a Bates escape for an 8-2 lead. The lead built to 14-5 Romero with a period to go. He finished off the match to win by technical fall, 25-10.

197 | Gavin Hoffman (OSU) def. Ryan Boyle (KSU) | TF, 25-6
The Buckeyes got on the board first with a Hoffman takedown. Followed by a Boyle takedown, Hoffman added a pair of takedowns to lead 6-2 after the first. An escape and Hoffman takedown increased the lead to 9-2. Hoffman added a takedown and four-point near fall for a 15-3 lead after two. Hoffman finished off the match to win by technical fall, 21-6.
HWT | Mike Misita (OSU) def. Jacob Cover (KSU) | D, 9-2
A Misita takedown gave the Buckeyes the 2-0 lead. He added a four-point near fall before a Cover reversal to make it 7-2 Misita lead after the first. Misita closed out his first dual win as a Buckeye with a win by decision, 9-2.
