COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 Ohio State women’s hockey team continues its road stretch this weekend against No. 10 Cornell at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y. Puck drop between the Buckeyes (14-2-2, 13-2-1 WCHA) and Big Red (7-3-2, 5-2-1 ECAC) is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and 3 p.m. Dec. 18. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- Ohio State is coming off a bye week for its third straight matchup against a top 10 ranked opponent. In their last outing, the Buckeyes split their series at No. 8 Minnesota Duluth with a 2-1 win and 5-4 overtime loss.
- The team’s Friday win over the Bulldogs was the first game one win in Duluth for the Buckeyes in head coach Nadine Muzerall’s tenure.
- Ohio State is now 4-2-2 against ranked opponents this season, including three wins against teams ranked in the top-five.

- Jenn Gardiner leads the Buckeyes in assists with 18 so far this season. She ranks second on the team in points with 25.
- Graduate forward Paetyn Levis is just one point shy of 100 for her career. She currently stands at 99 points (41G, 58A). Gardiner, a senior, is next with 94 points (39G, 55A). Gabby Rosenthal sits at nine points away from the century mark with 48 goals and 43 assists for 91 career points.
- Raygan Kirk paces the Ohio State goaltending group with a .912 save percentage in seven starts for the Buckeyes this season. She has earned a 5-1-1 record in net this year.
- Halfway through the regular season, Ohio State is tied for first with Minnesota in the WCHA standings with 41 points.
- Ohio State’s power play is the best in the country, rated at .349. Jaques is the top power play scorer in the country with seven power play goals on the year. She leads all skaters by a two-goal margin. She is also tied for the most goals scored this season (15).
- Ohio State ranks second in the country in power play goals (18) and third nationally in scoring offense (4.28 goals/game). The Buckeyes are also rated fourth in goals (77) and points (198).
Series History – Buckeyes vs. Big Red
- The Buckeyes and Big Red have only met four times prior to this weekend’s matchup in Ithaca.
- Cornell leads the series, 3-1.
- In the last meeting between the two programs, the Buckeyes split the series with a 3-1 win in game one and 1-5 loss on game two against the then-ranked No. 3 Big Red during the 2019-20 season.
- The series dates back to Ohio State’s inaugural season in 1999-00.
- This weekend’s series is the first time since the 2000-01 season that the Buckeyes will meet Cornell on the road.

- Graduate defenseman Sophie Jaques continues to build off her successful 2021-22 season this year for Ohio State.
- In addition to leading the Buckeyes in points and goals this year, she is the top power play scorer in the country with eight PPGs.
- The Toronto, Ont. native is tied for the lead among active NCAA players with 25 career power play goals.
- She has earned a +11 this season and has been on the ice for 38 of Ohio State’s 77 goals this season.
- Jaques also leads the team with 25 blocked shots on the year.
Buckeye Career Leaders
- Emma Maltais is currently second in the nation among active players in career assists with 119.
- The graduate student is also third among active Division I players in assists per game for her career (.82).
- Jaques also leads current NCAA players with 25 power play goals for her career.
